PCCW reports 6.78 percent turnover growth: what it means for PCCW stock
Published on 10/07/2026 at 00:53 | Editorial responsibility: Rafael Müller, Editor-in-Chief AD HOC NEWSPCCW (HK0008011667) reported HKD 20.204 billion in turnover for the first half of 2026, up 6.78 percent from the comparable period. For PCCW stock, the key issue is whether operating growth can translate into stronger shareholder earnings.
Turnover grows as losses narrow
Etnet reports that PCCW's first-half turnover reached HKD 20.204 billion in the interim period ended June 2026, while profit attributable to shareholders was a loss of HKD 276.00 million. The result keeps the company loss-making at the attributable level, even as turnover increased.
That loss was narrower than the HKD 445.00 million loss reported for the comparable period, a reduction of 38.00 percent. The comparison matters because revenue growth alone does not yet describe a return to reported profitability.
Viu adds a measurable growth engine
According to the Yahoo Finance transcript dated July 30, 2026, paid subscribers on PCCW's Viu platform rose 11.00 percent year over year to 15.30 million in the first six months of 2026. Subscription video-on-demand revenue increased 5.00 percent during the period.
The board also declared an interim dividend of HKD 0.0977 per share, according to the same transcript. That payout gives income-focused holders a concrete return figure, but its durability depends on cash generation across the wider group.
HKT remains central to the cash picture
Hong Kong Dividend Stocks wrote on September 22, 2026 that PCCW's interim dividend was unchanged while HKT generated HKD 2.64 billion of adjusted funds flow in the first half and declared an interim distribution of HKD 0.3480 per stapled unit. The same review said equity attributable to PCCW shareholders was negative HKD 4.21 billion at the end of June, compared with positive consolidated equity of HKD 3.26 billion.
That structure makes HKT's distributions and PCCW's balance sheet more important than the headline turnover increase alone. The investor question is therefore a combination of growth, cash upstreaming and the path back to attributable profit.
