- Third-quarter sales increased year over year, but net income and adjusted EBITDA declined.
- Chlor Alkali Products and Vinyls earnings fell sharply, while Epoxy and Winchester improved.
- Olin expects fourth-quarter adjusted EBITDA of USD 80 million to USD 100 million and targets a Huntsman merger closing in the first quarter of 2027.
Olin Corporation reported lower third-quarter profit despite higher sales, according to PR Newswire via Yahoo Finance. The company released the results on October 29, 2026, for the quarter ended September 30.
Net income attributable to Olin fell to USD 14.4 million from USD 42.8 million in the year-earlier quarter. Diluted earnings per share declined to USD 0.13 from USD 0.37, while sales rose to USD 1.7477 billion from USD 1.7132 billion.
Segment performance diverges
Adjusted EBITDA decreased to USD 191.4 million from USD 222.4 million. Olin said the measure excluded USD 13.7 million in acquisition-related costs and USD 1.7 million in restructuring charges.
Chlor Alkali Products and Vinyls generated sales of USD 850.8 million, down from USD 924.0 million, while segment earnings declined to USD 71.3 million from USD 127.6 million. The company attributed part of the earnings pressure to operating issues at its vinyl chloride monomer plant in Freeport, Texas, which reduced profit by USD 32.1 million.
Epoxy sales increased to USD 412.2 million from USD 349.6 million, and the segment moved to earnings of USD 0.6 million from a loss of USD 32.2 million. Winchester sales rose to USD 484.7 million, with segment earnings reaching USD 33.8 million compared with USD 19.3 million previously.
Fourth-quarter outlook remains cautious
Olin expects fourth-quarter adjusted EBITDA of USD 80 million to USD 100 million. The outlook reflects seasonal effects, elevated customer destocking in chemicals, higher feedstock costs, pressure from subsidized Asian exports and planned maintenance turnarounds.
The proposed all-stock merger with Huntsman remains subject to customary closing conditions and remaining regulatory approvals. Olin said shareholders of both companies approved the transaction and that the U.S. Hart-Scott-Rodino waiting period had expired; the company now expects closing in the first quarter of 2027.
