- Novatek's shift toward higher-complexity system chips supported stronger Q2 2026 profitability.
- Simply Wall St highlighted Chinese subsidy pull-forward, pricing pressure and tariff uncertainty as risks to future growth.
- The company remains focused on display driver ICs and system-on-chip solutions for global digital-device markets.
Novatek Microelectronics is facing a two-sided investor debate: stronger earnings from higher-value chips versus the risk that current expectations already price in much of the improvement. In an October 8, 2026 analysis, Simply Wall St said Novatek's push to add AI features to televisions and gaming systems is turning basic display-driver activity into more complex system-chip business.
Profit growth strengthens the case
Novatek's Q2 2026 revenue rose to NT$28,660.098 million from NT$26,152.063 million in Q2 2025. Net income increased to NT$6,327.86 million from NT$3,739.254 million, while net margin expanded from 14.3 percent to 22.1 percent. The results supported the view that a richer product mix can improve the company's earnings profile.
The analysis also set out a more cautious scenario. Its lower fair-value case assumed slower revenue growth, fiercer price competition and pressure from Chinese subsidy pull-forward effects. It also pointed to uncertainty over global tariffs and the possibility that shipment growth could slow in coming quarters.
Valuation leaves less room for error
Simply Wall St's analysis said Novatek's shares were trading above the narrative's fair-value estimate at the time. For investors, the key test is whether AI-enabled system-on-chip demand, OLED driver activity and broader integrated-circuit exposure can sustain higher margins as the initial product-mix benefit matures.
