New World Development said on October 15, 2026, that it expected to issue about US$189.1 million in new secured notes due in 2032 after receiving sufficient tenders during the early phase of a debt exchange offer. China Labour Bulletin Board reported the development in an article updated November 3.

Debt exchange targets near-term maturities

The offer covers three US dollar-denominated note series with combined outstanding principal of about US$991 million. The notes mature in January 2027, June 2027 and February 2028, while the replacement debt would mature in 2032.

New World said all notes tendered by the early deadline would be accepted in full without scaling. Settlement for the notes accepted at that stage was expected on October 20. The transaction is designed to extend maturities and reduce immediate refinancing pressure.

Liquidity remains the central investor issue

The refinancing effort comes as New World works to reduce debt, sell assets and strengthen liquidity amid tight credit conditions and a prolonged downturn in Hong Kong's property market. For shareholders, execution of the exchange and the company's ability to secure further funding remain important factors alongside property sales and asset disposals.
