- Trading resumed after the audited FY2026 accounts were lodged following a voluntary suspension.
- Profit declined year on year, while annual distributions per unit remained broadly stable.
- Temporary restrictions at underlying funds remain relevant for investors assessing liquidity and valuation risk.
Metrics Master Income Trust returned to ASX trading after lodging its audited financial statements for the year ended June 30, 2026. Kalkine reported on October 6 that the final accounts reduced net tangible assets to A$1.9617 per unit from the preliminary A$2.00 figure.
Audit changes the valuation
The audited NTA was about 1.9 percent below the preliminary figure. The adjustment followed differences identified between the preliminary FY2026 report and the figures expected in the audited accounts, prompting a voluntary suspension on September 28 before trading resumed.
FY2026 profit fell to A$144.9 million from A$169.6 million a year earlier. Total assets declined to A$2.420 billion from A$2.460 billion, while distributions paid or payable reached A$191.9 million, equal to 15.69 cents per unit compared with 15.77 cents in FY2025.
Liquidity remains an investor focus
The audited accounts also disclosed temporary restrictions on applications and redemptions at underlying funds and structured entities in which MXT invests. The restrictions prevent MXT from acquiring or redeeming units in those vehicles while they remain in place, leaving subsequent disclosures on liquidity, portfolio valuations and credit-loss provisions important for investors.
Metrics Master Income Trust targets monthly income through exposure to corporate credit. Its investment approach uses floating-rate loans, senior secured positions and diversification across borrowers, industries and loan types, according to the company's investor information.
A private-credit platform
Metrics Credit Partners is an Australian non-bank corporate lender and alternative asset manager focused on private credit, fixed income, equity and capital markets. Through its funds, it lends to companies in Australia, New Zealand and developed Asia, while MXT gives investors listed access to diversified corporate loans.
Within the manager's listed product range, MXT is the corporate-credit vehicle, alongside Metrics Income Opportunities Trust and Metrics Real Estate Multi-Strategy Fund. That positioning gives MXT a broader corporate-lending focus than the real-estate strategy, while keeping it within the specialist private-credit segment rather than the traditional banking sector.
Australia's equity market backdrop is covered in the S&P/ASX 200 topic.
Further updates on NTA, monthly distributions and the underlying funds' transaction restrictions will shape the next assessment of the trust.
