MeiraGTx stock: New gene-therapy data span eye, ALS and xerostomia

MeiraGTx Holdings plc announced on October 27, 2026, that it would present four posters at the European Society of Gene and Cell Therapy annual congress and the Network of Excellence for ALS annual meeting. The announcement, published by GlobeNewswire, said three posters were scheduled for the ESGCT meeting in Hamburg and one for the NEALS meeting in Clearwater.
Data span several development programs
The company described a potency assay for rAAV-AQP1, its gene-therapy candidate for radiation-induced xerostomia. MeiraGTx said the assay produced a quantitative readout of water transport and showed intra-assay variability below 20 percent during evaluation; validation against several analytical performance criteria is ongoing.
Another poster covered AAV-NRF2 in models of oxidative stress linked to dry age-related macular degeneration. The company reported complete rescue of viability, phagocytic function and barrier integrity in treated human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived retinal pigment epithelial cells under the tested conditions. In a mouse model, it reported reduced retinal atrophy and preservation of electrophysiological responses.
At the ALS meeting, MeiraGTx presented preclinical work on AAV-hUPF1 and AAV-hCNTFRa. The company said it reduced the hUPF1 construct by 1.5 kilobases and observed improved motor-neuron survival in a FUS mouse model at approximately 36 percent transduction. The programs remain in development and the announcement does not establish clinical efficacy.
Manufacturing remains part of the story
The release also described a denaturing size-exclusion chromatography mass-spectrometry method for analyzing AAV capsid proteins. MeiraGTx said the method improved separation for AAV2, AAV5 and AAV8 compared with reverse-phase LC-MS, a technical development relevant to quality control and product characterization.
