- An independent non-executive director will leave Master Drilling's board.
- The departure also affects three board committees.
- The board plans to review its composition before the effective date.
Master Drilling said on Monday, November 2, 2026, that independent non-executive director Mamokete Emily Ramathe will resign from the board effective March 31, 2027. The announcement was carried by Moneyweb from a JSE SENS notice.
Departure reshapes board committees
Ramathe will also step down as chair of the Social, Ethics and Sustainability Committee and as a member of the Audit Committee and Risk Committee. She will remain on the board and its committees until the resignation takes effect.
The company said the board, supported by its Nominations Committee, will consider the composition of the board and the affected committees. Further changes will be announced in line with JSE listing requirements.
Governance, not operations
The notice links the departure to Ramathe's expanding commitments in her fund management business and a new board appointment. It does not announce a change to Master Drilling's operating outlook, contracts or financial guidance.

Mining and drilling specialist
According to Master Drilling's investor portal, the South African group provides rock boring and exploration drilling services, alongside design, engineering, manufacturing, customisation and maintenance for drilling operations. Its activities span mining and exploration markets across sectors and geographies. The company also develops specialised technologies including the Mobile Tunnel Borer and Blind Shaft Boring System. Compared with broader drilling-services groups such as Halliburton and Baker Hughes and offshore contractor Valaris, Master Drilling is positioned around specialised mining, tunnelling and exploration work rather than a broad oilfield portfolio.
