JBT Marel reported third-quarter results on Tuesday, November 3, with revenue below its expectations but profitability ahead of its plan. In a Business Wire release, the company said consolidated revenue fell 1 percent year over year to 994 million US dollars, while net income increased 6 percent to 70 million US dollars.
Margins offset softer demand
Adjusted EBITDA increased 5 percent to 179 million US dollars, lifting the adjusted EBITDA margin to a quarterly record of 18.0 percent from 17.1 percent a year earlier. Adjusted diluted earnings per share rose to 2.19 US dollars from 1.94 US dollars.
Protein Solutions provided the main operating support. Revenue in the segment increased 6 percent to 469 million US dollars, driven primarily by higher poultry volumes, while adjusted EBITDA margin improved to 22.4 percent. Prepared Food and Beverage Solutions revenue declined 6 percent to 525 million US dollars as softer consumer-packaged-goods book-and-ship volume weighed on the Diversified Food and Health business.
Buyback capacity expands
JBT Marel's board authorized an additional 500 million US dollars for share repurchases on October 30, bringing total authorization to 700 million US dollars. The company said it expects capital returns to remain consistent with a long-term leverage target of 2.0 to 2.5 times.
Management revised its full-year 2026 revenue guidance to 3.95 billion to 4.00 billion US dollars, reflecting weaker near-term expectations in the consumer-packaged-goods end market. At the same time, it raised the midpoint of its adjusted EBITDA margin guidance to 17.375 percent and set adjusted earnings-per-share guidance at 8.10 to 8.40 US dollars. The outlook includes acquisition-related amortization, restructuring costs and other items that are excluded from the adjusted measures.
