- Mahindra Finance increased second-quarter disbursements by 22 percent year over year.
- Credit costs declined as asset-quality indicators improved during the quarter.
- Non-vehicle lending expanded, supporting the company's diversification beyond vehicle finance.
Mahindra Finance reported a 55 percent year-over-year increase in standalone net profit to INR 882 crore for the July-September quarter of fiscal 2027. The result, published on October 21, 2026, was reported by Business Standard.
Lending growth supports quarterly earnings
Total income rose 15 percent year over year to INR 5,175 crore, while quarterly disbursements increased 22 percent to INR 16,499 crore. Business assets under management grew 15 percent to INR 1.46 trillion, and the net interest margin remained at 7 percent.
Credit costs declined to 1.6 percent of average assets from 2.2 percent a year earlier. Business Standard also reported that Stage 3 assets fell to 3.4 percent from 3.9 percent and Stage 2 assets to 4.7 percent from 5.8 percent, pointing to improved asset quality during the quarter.
Diversification broadens the lending mix
Mahindra Finance continued to expand beyond vehicle finance. Disbursements in non-vehicle businesses, including SME lending, personal loans and housing finance, grew 52 percent year over year. The shift gives the lender additional exposure to lending categories beyond its traditional vehicle-focused franchise.
Chief Executive Raul Rebello said the quarter's performance increased management's confidence in stronger and more consistent business outcomes. He also said the company remains focused on disciplined execution toward its FY31 ambitions.
Mahindra Finance in the lending market
Mahindra Finance is an India-based non-banking financial company offering vehicle finance alongside SME, personal and housing-related lending. Its corporate office is in Mumbai, India, and its product range includes financing for cars, commercial vehicles, tractors and other asset-backed borrowing needs.
Relative to diversified Indian lenders such as Bajaj Finance, Shriram Finance and Cholamandalam Investment and Finance, Mahindra Finance has a more pronounced vehicle-finance and rural-credit orientation. Its expanding non-vehicle portfolio is intended to broaden that position rather than replace its established vehicle-lending base.
