Diversification gains momentum

The Q2 figures point to two operating trends for investors: faster loan expansion and lower reported credit costs. The combination supports earnings growth, although future performance remains tied to funding conditions, rural demand and asset quality.
Business model and competitors
Mahindra Finance is an India-based non-banking financial company headquartered in Mumbai that provides vehicle, housing, personal and small-business loans, with a strong focus on rural and semi-urban customers. Its lending mix includes passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, tractors, pre-owned vehicles and non-vehicle finance, according to Mahindra Finance. It competes with Shriram Finance and Cholamandalam Investment and Finance in vehicle and rural lending, while Bajaj Finance operates a broader, larger diversified retail and commercial lending platform. Mahindra Finance therefore remains more specialized in rural and vehicle-linked finance than the larger diversified peers.
