Kymera Therapeutics reported positive Phase 1 results for its oral IRF5 degrader KT-579 alongside third-quarter financial results on October 29, 2026. The company said the findings support further development in autoimmune diseases, while the financial update showed sharply higher research spending and a wider net loss.
According to the Kymera 8-K filing, KT-579 produced median IRF5 degradation of at least 90% across multiple dose levels in the multiple-ascending-dose portion of the trial. The company also reported inhibition of several disease-relevant biomarkers, including TNF alpha, IL-12/23p40, IL-1 beta and IFN beta. Kymera said no serious or severe adverse events occurred and that no adverse events led to discontinuation.
Clinical milestones remain central
Kymera plans to start the KT-579 LUMORA Phase 1b study in patients with lupus by early 2027. The company said the study is designed to assess biological activity and safety over 16 weeks in approximately 30 adults with systemic lupus erythematosus.
For KT-621, the last patient completed the week 16 visit in the BROADEN2 Phase 2b trial in moderate to severe atopic dermatitis during October. Kymera expects to report topline data by year-end 2026 and, subject to regulatory discussions, plans to start its first Phase 3 atopic dermatitis study by mid-2027. Enrollment in the BREADTH Phase 2b asthma trial is continuing, with topline data expected in late 2027.
Higher investment, extended runway
Kymera reported no collaboration revenue for the third quarter, compared with 2.8 million US dollars a year earlier. Research and development expense rose to 128.5 million US dollars from 74.1 million US dollars, including 10.9 million US dollars in stock-based compensation. Net loss widened to 132.0 million US dollars from 82.2 million US dollars.
As of September 30, Kymera held 1.6 billion US dollars in cash, cash equivalents and investments. Management said this balance should fund operations into 2029, covering several clinical milestones. For investors, the update leaves the valuation discussion focused on clinical execution and the timing of data readouts rather than near-term collaboration revenue.
