First half brings higher revenue
Kenon's first-half revenue increased from USD 378 million in the comparable 2025 period to USD 696 million in 2026, an increase of 84.1 percent. Profit rose from USD 33 million to USD 88 million, while basic and diluted earnings per share advanced from USD 0.32 to USD 1.34.
The result was driven largely by OPC Energy, in which Kenon holds approximately 46 percent. OPC's second-quarter revenue reached USD 379 million, compared with USD 196 million in Q2 2025, while profit rose to USD 15 million from USD 1 million, according to Yahoo Finance on September 8, 2026.
Vicinity adds an infrastructure bet
On September 30, 2026, Kenon announced an agreement to acquire a 25 percent indirect interest in Vicinity District Energy for a maximum cash obligation of USD 450 million, according to PR Newswire. The transaction values 100 percent of Vicinity at USD 2.92 billion and is expected to close in Q2 2027, subject to regulatory approvals.
Vicinity operates district heating and cooling systems in 12 major U.S. cities. The deal would broaden Kenon's exposure beyond electricity generation, but the proposed investment also commits substantial liquidity to a business that has not yet been consolidated into Kenon's results.
Cash supports the planned expansion
Kenon's stand-alone cash was USD 512 million on June 30, 2026, and USD 605 million on August 31, 2026. At OPC, unrestricted cash stood at USD 1.261 billion on June 30, 2026, against total financial liabilities of USD 2.977 billion, making financing structure an important counterweight to the growth figures.
Kenon also received USD 93 million from Peru in August 2026 as its share of a final arbitration award payment. That inflow provides additional context for the company's ability to fund the Vicinity transaction, while the proposed acquisition remains subject to closing conditions.
