KakaoPay reported record third-quarter performance on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, as growth in payments and financial services lifted consolidated revenue 27 percent year on year to 302.1 billion won. SBS News reported that operating profit rose 105 percent to 32.5 billion won, while net income increased 72 percent to 32.9 billion won.

Payments lead quarterly growth

Total payment volume reached 53.7 trillion won, 14 percent above the year-earlier quarter. Payment-service transaction volume grew 25 percent, supported by increases in online, offline and overseas payments. Payment-service revenue rose 19 percent to 154.7 billion won, while financial-service revenue advanced 41 percent to 133.4 billion won.

Financial units add momentum

KakaoPay Securities generated 74.6 billion won in third-quarter revenue and 15.7 billion won in operating profit. Its stock-trading volume rose 139 percent from a year earlier to 81.6 trillion won, and monthly trading customers increased 62 percent to 1.67 million. KakaoPay Insurance also posted record quarterly revenue of 32.2 billion won, up 93 percent year on year.

The company said daily active users exceeded 7 million during the quarter, while average revenue per user increased 23 percent to 12,388 won. Advertising expenses rose 55 percent year on year, making cost control relevant as KakaoPay expands its financial-services offering.

AI and digital assets in focus

KakaoPay is extending its platform beyond payments and transfers. Its beta AI Coach wealth-management service had more than 450,000 cumulative visitors by October, and the company is working with Circle, Fireblocks, Grab and SCBx on an ecosystem centered on Kakao Super Wallet.

KakaoPay's business model

KakaoPay operates a digital-finance platform covering payments, money transfers, lending, investment and insurance services. Its consumer offering is designed to bring everyday financial functions into one platform, while KakaoPay Securities and KakaoPay Insurance extend the group into investing and protection products. The business is therefore exposed to payment activity, financial-service demand and the performance of its subsidiaries.
