JFE stock costs EUR 10.10 as first-quarter profit rises 98.70 percent
Published on 10/07/2026 at 03:51 | Editorial responsibility: Rafael Müller, Editor-in-Chief AD HOC NEWSJFE Holdings (ISIN JP3386030005) reported first-quarter revenue of JPY 1.16 trillion for fiscal 2026, up 4.10 percent year over year, while business profit rose 98.70 percent to JPY 32.31 billion. The figures come from the first-quarter report dated August 5, 2026, reviewed by Smart Stock Notes.
Revenue improves while profit accelerates
The result was driven by higher earnings in the steel and engineering activities, alongside inventory valuation effects and a JPY 15.00 billion land-sale gain. Operating profit reached JPY 47.36 billion, but the land sale accounted for JPY 15.00 billion of that amount, making business profit the cleaner measure of recurring performance.
Steel revenue declined 0.40 percent to JPY 676.15 billion, while steel segment profit improved from a JPY 12.15 billion loss to JPY 3.05 billion. Steel shipments fell to 4.54 million metric tons from 4.71 million metric tons, showing that margin and one-time effects mattered more than volume in the quarter.
Fiscal revenue forecast rises to JPY 4.85 trillion
JFE lifted its fiscal-year revenue forecast from JPY 4.80 trillion to JPY 4.85 trillion, a calculated increase of 1.04 percent, while leaving its JPY 215.00 billion business profit forecast unchanged. The company also maintained its forecast for JPY 150.00 billion in profit attributable to owners of the parent.
The forecast implies a demanding second half for earnings. First-quarter business profit represented JPY 32.31 billion of the JPY 215.00 billion annual target, or 15.03 percent, while the company expects steel spreads to improve by JPY 59.00 billion in the second half. That assumption leaves raw-material prices and steel pricing as the key operating variables.
JFE stock remains below its recent market value
Finance data put JFE Holdings' market capitalization at JPY 1,086.8 billion as of October 7, 2026, with the Tokyo listing identified by ticker 5411.T. Cash and short-term investments stood at JPY 167.81 billion on October 4, 2026, down 2.91 percent from the previous year, according to Eulerpool.
That balance-sheet comparison matters because JFE is also planning JPY 370.00 billion of fiscal-year capital investment. The combination of higher investment, weaker steel shipments and a forecast that relies on second-half spread improvement leaves execution more important than the headline profit increase.
