Japanese broker raises Inpex target to JPY 4,800 for Inpex stock
Published on 10/07/2026 at 06:22 | Editorial responsibility: Rafael Müller, Editor-in-Chief AD HOC NEWSInpex (ISIN JP3294460005) had a prior close of EUR 20.77 at Lang & Schwarz on October 5, 2026. A Japanese brokerage kept its bullish rating and raised the target from JPY 4,700.00 to JPY 4,800.00 on October 1, 2026, according to Yahoo Finance Japan.
Target rises as profit improves
The target increase came after Inpex delivered a strong first half of fiscal 2026. Profit attributable to owners of the parent reached JPY 263.10 billion, an increase of 17.70 percent from the prior-year period, while earnings per share rose 21.30 percent to JPY 226.33, according to Quartr.
Revenue moved in the opposite direction. First-half revenue was JPY 1,000.40 billion, down 4.60 percent year over year, while operating profit edged up 0.30 percent to JPY 618.70 billion. The combination points to higher profitability despite weaker crude oil sales volumes.
Gas offsets weaker crude volumes
Natural gas revenue increased 8.20 percent year over year to JPY 271.90 billion, helped by the Ichthys LNG project. Crude oil revenue fell 10.90 percent, and crude sales volume declined 22.80 percent, making portfolio mix a central issue for the full-year outlook.
Inpex raised its full-year 2026 profit forecast by JPY 60.00 billion to JPY 510.00 billion and set an annual dividend forecast of JPY 112.00 per share, according to INPEX Corporation. The company also scheduled its nine-month results announcement for November 12, 2026.
Tokyo valuation and next date
Inpex traded at JPY 3,687.00 on the Tokyo Stock Exchange at 1:06 p.m. JST on October 7, 2026. Its market capitalization was JPY 4.3 trillion, and the 52-week range stood at JPY 2,607.00 to JPY 4,955.00, leaving the price 25.57 percent below the high.
The next test is execution rather than headline profit growth. The first-half result exceeded the interim profit plan by 22.90 percent, but the company still needs JPY 246.90 billion in second-half profit to meet its JPY 510.00 billion full-year forecast. That requirement leaves oil prices, Abu Dhabi sales restrictions and Ichthys operations as the main variables.
