Hyundai Wia faces mixed growth signals

  • Third-quarter revenue growth was supported by higher automotive activity and hybrid-engine production in Mexico.
  • Foreign-exchange losses and continuing losses in Russia weighed on earnings despite stronger sales.
  • Hybrid engines and electric-vehicle thermal management remain important potential growth areas for the next quarters.

Hyundai Wia's third-quarter performance showed stronger sales but continued pressure on profitability, according to an analysis by StockHub published on Monday, November 2, 2026. Eugene Investment & Securities maintained a Buy rating and a target price of 75,000 won.

Sales rise while earnings remain under pressure

Hyundai Wia generated third-quarter revenue of 2.46 trillion won, up 14.3 percent from a year earlier. Operating profit increased 5.5 percent to 55 billion won, broadly matching consensus expectations.

The earnings picture was less robust below the operating line. Hyundai Wia recorded a 13 billion-won net loss attributable to controlling interests, with foreign-exchange losses of 61 billion won contributing to the result.

Automotive revenue rose 15.1 percent to 2.29 trillion won, while automotive operating profit fell 4.4 percent to 41.2 billion won. A 13 billion-won loss in Russia offset a 10 billion-won benefit from the start of hybrid-engine mass production in Mexico.

New programs shape the next outlook

Other revenue increased 4.2 percent to 170.6 billion won, and operating profit in that business rose 55.2 percent to 13.5 billion won. Higher domestic utilization and hybrid-engine production in Mexico were identified as important contributors to the quarter.

Eugene expects fourth-quarter results to remain similar to the third quarter or improve slightly as engine production and new-model effects develop. Potential one-off costs linked to the 2026 wage negotiations remain a risk, while losses in Russia are expected to continue but narrow.

Thermal-management orders for major electric-vehicle models are under way. Successful execution could make Hyundai Wia's medium- and long-term growth profile more visible, with hybrid engines and electric-vehicle thermal management emerging as central areas to watch.
