Hotel Shilla stock reports a Q2 operating profit rebound
Published on 10/07/2026 at 02:57 | Editorial responsibility: Rafael Müller, Editor-in-Chief AD HOC NEWSHotel Shilla stock was trading at KRW 39,050 on the KOSPI on October 7, 2026, at 9:36 a.m. KST, up 0.26 percent from the prior close. The latest quarterly figures show a sharper profit recovery than the revenue line, with operating profit reaching KRW 61.1 billion in Q2 2026.
Profit recovery outpaces revenue
According to ATSView, Hotel Shilla reported Q2 2026 revenue of KRW 971.8 billion, down 5.2 percent from the same quarter a year earlier. Operating profit stood at KRW 61.1 billion, producing a 6.3 percent operating margin.
The contrast is the central investment question. Hotel Shilla generated less revenue than a year earlier, yet the Q2 operating result improved as the company placed greater emphasis on profitability in its duty-free business and benefited from stronger hotel operations.
Hotels are adding profit support
Asiae reported on September 3, 2026, that Hotel Shilla's hotel and leisure revenue increased 13.6 percent in Q2, while operating profit rose 23.5 percent to KRW 2.47 billion. Occupancy at The Shilla Seoul reached 75 percent and occupancy at Jeju Shilla Hotel reached 79 percent, with both rates up 9 percentage points year over year.
The segment mix matters because hotel earnings can expand faster than sales when occupancy and room rates rise. Duty-free remains the larger business by revenue, but its fixed-cost structure makes the pace of profit recovery more important than headline sales growth.
Analysts remain divided
According to Eulerpool, 22 analysts give Hotel Shilla a consensus rating of Buy, with 13 Buy, 3 Hold and 6 Sell recommendations. The median 12-month price target is KRW 49,470.
The counterweight is duty-free demand. CHOSUNBIZ reported on September 29, 2026, that Heungkuk Securities maintained a Buy rating but cut its target price from KRW 65,000 to KRW 55,000, citing limited duty-free sales growth despite higher inbound tourism. The firm forecast Q3 revenue of KRW 979.8 billion, down 4.5 percent year over year, and operating profit of KRW 63.5 billion, up 455.1 percent.
