Hindustan Aeronautics has appointed P B Rangarao as Additional Director, designated as Director (Operations), effective October 28, 2026. Indian Masterminds reported the change on October 31.

Rangarao succeeds HAL Chairman and Managing Director Kota Ravi in the operations role. Ravi has relinquished the additional charge with immediate effect, while continuing as the companys CMD.

Experience Across Helicopter Programmes

Rangarao joined HAL as a design trainee in 1995 and has held senior positions across the Helicopter Division and Helicopter Complex. His responsibilities have included plant maintenance, Advanced Light Helicopter manufacturing, production planning and supply-chain work for Cheetah and Chetak helicopters.

Indian Masterminds said he contributed to the operationalisation of HALs Helicopter Division at Tumakuru and to the production rollout of Light Utility Helicopters. He also oversaw limited-series production bases for Light Combat Helicopters for the Indian Army and Indian Air Force.

The appointment comes as HAL continues to execute defence aviation programmes and expand domestic manufacturing capabilities. For investors, the leadership change places an executive with long operational experience directly over production activities, but the report does not quantify any immediate financial effect.
