Hanwha Life approves Acuon deal. Hanwha Life stock sits 29.50 percent below its high
Published on 10/05/2026 at 17:18 | Editorial responsibility: Rafael Müller, Editor-in-Chief AD HOC NEWSHanwha Life Insurance's board approved a KRW 440 billion acquisition of a 50.54 percent controlling stake in Acuon Capital on September 30, 2026, according to Insurance Business. Hanwha Life stock sits 29.50 percent below its 52-week high, giving the acquisition a clear capital-allocation backdrop.
Acuon adds credit finance
The transaction would add Acuon Capital and its wholly owned Acuon Savings Bank to Hanwha Life's existing insurance, securities and asset-management operations. The deal is structured with Centroid Investment Partners as a financial investor and remains subject to regulatory approval, DealStreetAsia reported on October 1, 2026.
Hanwha Life would acquire control of a platform with about KRW 10 trillion in total assets, according to the same transaction report. Insurance Business described Acuon Capital's first-half 2026 assets at KRW 4.6 trillion and Acuon Savings Bank's holdings at KRW 5.1 trillion, while the planned combination with Hanwha Savings Bank would create a savings-banking operation with KRW 6.5 trillion in assets.
Profit growth meets capital demands
The operating backdrop is stronger than the stock's distance from its yearly high suggests. Quartr reported that consolidated net income rose 96.00 percent year over year to KRW 904.5 billion in the first half of 2026. New business contractual service margin reached KRW 1.3 trillion, up 40.50 percent year over year, while standalone net income increased 183.90 percent to KRW 510.2 billion.
That growth matters because the acquisition expands risk-weighted assets beyond traditional life insurance. Insurance Business also reported that Hanwha Life committed KRW 250 billion to a capital raise for Hanwha Investment and Securities on September 30, 2026, while Hanwha Asset Management committed another KRW 250 billion. The combined allocation places capital discipline alongside expansion as the central investment question.
