- Analysts expect Hanon Systems' profitability to improve as restructuring savings and customer cost recoveries build.
- Data-center cooling and robotaxi thermal systems are emerging beyond the company's traditional vehicle business.
- Aftermarket sales through Hankook Tire's T-Station network are adding a new route to customers in South Korea.
On October 7, Korea Investment & Securities kept its Buy rating and a 5,000-won price target for Hanon Systems, according to Financial News. The brokerage forecast third-quarter operating profit of 112 billion won, citing restructuring savings and higher customer recoveries despite weak finished-vehicle demand.
Profitability recovery remains central
The report said Hanon Systems' operating margin had risen from 3.3 percent in the fourth quarter of the prior year to 3.6 percent in the second quarter. Korea Investment & Securities expected the margin to reach 3.9 percent in the third quarter and 4.1 percent in the fourth quarter.
The analyst also warned that stronger-won foreign-exchange translation losses could push net income attributable to controlling shareholders into a loss. That distinction leaves the expected operating improvement separate from bottom-line currency effects.
New markets extend thermal expertise
Hanon Systems is pursuing liquid-cooling systems for data-center power-conversion equipment, although the Financial News report described supply as still being at the prototype stage. The company has also begun supplying HVAC and thermal-management systems for Zoox, Amazon's autonomous-driving subsidiary, according to the report.
Aftermarket expansion is another focus. Hanon Systems is strengthening sales of compressors, condensers and other thermal-management parts through Hankook Tire's T-Station service network in South Korea, broadening access beyond original-equipment channels.
Hanon Systems in the market
Hanon Systems is a South Korean supplier of automotive thermal-management systems serving global vehicle markets, with products spanning HVAC and related cooling technologies. Its expansion reaches aftermarket distribution as well as emerging applications such as data-center cooling and autonomous vehicles. A November 3 market report listed Hanon Systems alongside DENSO, Valeo and BorgWarner among companies active in high-voltage thermal-management equipment, placing Hanon among specialized global suppliers in a market shaped by vehicle electrification.
