Grab Holdings stock takes on a USD 1.49 billion fintech deal
Published on 10/07/2026 at 02:40 | Editorial responsibility: Rafael Müller, Editor-in-Chief AD HOC NEWSGrab Holdings (ISIN KYG4124C1096) was last at USD 3.07 on Nasdaq on October 6, 2026, after a daily change of minus 3.15 percent. The central strategic question is whether its USD 1.49 billion Atome Financial acquisition can convert strong operating growth into a larger financial-services business.
Atome expands the lending push
According to Grab on September 15, 2026, the company agreed to acquire a controlling 60 percent stake in Atome Financial for USD 1.49 billion in cash. The transaction is expected to close by Q3/2027, subject to regulatory approvals, and Grab agreed to acquire the remaining 40 percent about two years after the first closing.
The deal gives Grab access to Atome's buy-now-pay-later, consumer cash-loan, card and digital-lending operations across five Southeast Asian markets. Grab said the combined Financial Services segment could reach adjusted EBITDA of USD 500 million and a gross loan portfolio above USD 6 billion by 2028, while group adjusted EBITDA is targeted at USD 1.7 billion.
Q2 growth sets a high bar
Yahoo Finance reported that Grab's Q2 2026 revenue rose 22 percent year over year to USD 997 million. Adjusted EBITDA climbed 54 percent to USD 168 million, and the adjusted EBITDA margin expanded to 16.9 percent from 13.3 percent in Q2 2025.
The same Q2 update put operating profit at USD 19 million, compared with USD 7 million a year earlier. Full-year 2026 guidance calls for revenue of USD 4.1 billion to USD 4.15 billion and adjusted EBITDA of USD 720 million to USD 740 million, while Financial Services revenue reached USD 134 million and the gross loan portfolio reached USD 2.3 billion.
Analysts see upside and execution risk
According to Barron's, 24 analyst ratings produce a Buy consensus and an average price target of USD 5.79, with targets ranging from USD 4.50 to USD 8.00. The average target sits above the October 6 price, while the stock remains 53.5 percent below its 52-week high of USD 6.60.
The numbers point to a clear trade-off: revenue, adjusted EBITDA and lending are expanding, but the Atome purchase adds regulatory and integration requirements. Reuters reported on September 15, 2026, that the transaction could ultimately value Atome between USD 2 billion and USD 4.5 billion and is intended to accelerate Grab's regional consumer-lending expansion.
Stock remains below its yearly high
Grab Holdings was last at USD 3.07 on Nasdaq on October 6, 2026, with a session range of USD 3.05 to USD 3.23 and volume of 94,540,750 shares. Its market capitalization was USD 12.2 billion, while the 52-week range stood at USD 2.74 to USD 6.60.
