- GBL's adidas holding is a key portfolio exposure ahead of the September 30 net asset value update.
- The adidas earnings improvement included a substantial US customs duty refund, making the quality of the upgrade important for investors.
- GBL is scheduled to publish its next portfolio valuation on Thursday, November 5.
Groupe Bruxelles Lambert's next net asset value update will put its adidas exposure in focus after the sportswear company raised its 2026 operating profit outlook. GBL is scheduled to publish results for the period ended September 30 on Thursday, November 5, according to its financial calendar.
Adidas upgrade shapes portfolio focus
Adidas reported third-quarter operating profit of 1.008 billion euros on October 29 and raised its 2026 outlook from about 2.3 billion euros to about 2.5 billion euros. The upgrade followed a US customs duty refund of about 200 million euros, according to an Opulion analysis published on October 31.
For GBL investors, the distinction between the reported improvement and underlying operating progress matters. Opulion said GBL held 3.53 percent of adidas's share capital at June 30 and that the stake represented 8.7 percent of GBL's net asset value at that date. The September 30 valuation will therefore provide a new reference point for the portfolio before later adidas developments.
Upcoming valuation is the next catalyst
GBL's release is expected to show the portfolio valuation at the end of September, including the market value of its holdings. The timing means the figure will be assessed against subsequent developments in the Recordati transaction and the latest performance of major portfolio companies, rather than treated as a standalone earnings measure.
GBL is a Brussels-based investment holding company with investments in listed and private businesses. Its portfolio approach makes changes in the market value of major holdings central to the net asset value reported to shareholders.
