The agreement was signed on September 23, 2026, according to MarketScreener.
USD 40 million targets MSMEs
The four-year loan is the first facility that the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has extended directly to EFG Holding at the holding-company level. Funds will move through eligible EFG Finance subsidiaries to businesses in rural areas and locations outside Egypt's main urban centers.
According to AGBI on September 23, 2026, the facility is intended to support business expansion and job creation. The funding also diversifies EFG Holding's medium-term financing sources while extending the reach of its non-bank financial institutions.
Revenue grows while profit falls
EFG Holding reported Q2 2026 revenue of EGP 6.5 billion, up 7 percent from the same quarter a year earlier. Net profit after tax and minority interest reached EGP 776 million, down 3 percent year over year, according to AGBI.
The combination points to a mixed operating picture: top-line growth remained positive, but earnings conversion weakened. For investors, the new facility therefore matters not only as a funding event but also as a test of whether additional lending capacity can translate into stronger profit growth.
Next report arrives November 18
