DL E&C reported a third-quarter net loss on Friday, October 30, 2026, as additional costs linked to the extended schedule and accelerated construction work on the Shaheen Project weighed on earnings. The Herald Business reported that consolidated sales fell 21 percent year over year to 1.51 trillion Korean won, while operating profit declined 8.1 percent to 107.3 billion Korean won.

Net income swung to a loss of 26.7 billion Korean won from a profit of 126.3 billion Korean won in the same quarter a year earlier. The cost increase reflects higher projected expenses for the petrochemical project, while the company said it continues to monitor construction risks and cost ratios.

Nine-month earnings remain stronger

Through the first three quarters, sales reached 5.03 trillion Korean won, operating profit rose 30.9 percent year over year to 424.1 billion Korean won, and new orders totaled 7.22 trillion Korean won. The nine-month operating profit therefore exceeded DL E&C's full-year 2025 operating profit of 387 billion Korean won. The cumulative operating margin increased to 8.4 percent from 5.7 percent a year earlier, while the third-quarter margin reached 7.1 percent.

Order intake also improved on a year-to-date basis. New orders rose 31 percent from the comparable period to 7.22 trillion Korean won, supported by housing and redevelopment opportunities. DL E&C secured the Mokdong Complex 6 reconstruction contract and is in exclusive negotiations for projects in Seongsu District 2 and Haan Jugong Complex 9.

The company is also pursuing North American energy infrastructure projects, small modular reactor opportunities and data center work. The Herald Business reported that DL E&C is developing a data center pipeline worth around 2 trillion Korean won and is deepening cooperation with X-energy in the SMR segment.
