Daishin cuts target for LG Display stock to KRW 12,000
Published on 10/02/2026 at 12:56 | Editorial responsibility: Rafael Müller, Editor-in-Chief AD HOC NEWSDaishin Securities cut its LG Display target from KRW 17,000 to KRW 12,000 on September 17, 2026, while keeping its Buy rating, according to MoneyToday. LG Display stock was trading at EUR 2.75 at Lang & Schwarz on October 2, 2026, up 1.85 percent versus the prior close of EUR 2.70.
Target cut meets weaker estimates
The target reduction reflects currency and demand concerns. Daishin estimated third-quarter operating profit at KRW 325.30 billion, below its previous estimate of KRW 436.00 billion and the KRW 404.50 billion market consensus, according to MoneyToday.
That combination gives the target cut a concrete earnings context. Daishin still projected second-half operating profit of KRW 631.70 billion, up 5.40 percent from the prior year period, but the estimate remains sensitive to foreign exchange and demand for information technology devices.
Second-quarter loss hides restructuring cost
LG Display reported KRW 5.61 trillion in revenue for the second quarter of 2026, up 0.40 percent year over year, while operating loss reached KRW 107.73 billion, according to ATSView. Net loss was KRW 418.83 billion and operating margin was minus 2.00 percent.
The company said its second-quarter operating result included KRW 240.00 billion in one-off workforce restructuring expense. Excluding that charge, underlying operating performance was profitable, while OLED represented 57.00 percent of revenue and increased from the prior year period, according to the Yahoo Finance transcript.
OLED mix sets the next test
Management expects third-quarter total area shipments to rise by a mid-single-digit percentage from the second quarter, while price per square meter is expected to increase by a high-teen percentage. The outlook depends on stronger mobile OLED seasonality, but management also cited semiconductor costs and uncertain information technology demand as risks.
The operating picture is therefore split between structural improvement and quarterly volatility. A KRW 107.73 billion second-quarter operating loss followed a KRW 146.72 billion operating profit in the first quarter, making the expected third-quarter recovery central to the investment case.
