- CNB Financial expanded its loan base and net interest income year over year.
- Deposits declined after the planned exit from higher-cost corporate accounts, while underlying relationships grew.
- The company expects to report its next quarterly results on January 26, 2027.
CNB Financial reported third-quarter earnings of USD 27.0 million, or USD 0.91 per diluted share, on October 21, 2026, for the period ended September 30. In its official earnings release, the company said quarterly earnings per share were unchanged from the second quarter and above the prior-year quarter.
Growth continues after ESSA integration
Net interest income reached USD 76.3 million in the third quarter, up from USD 67.1 million a year earlier, while total revenue was USD 87.8 million. The company attributed the year-over-year expansion primarily to the ESSA acquisition and growth in its legacy loan portfolio.
Organic loans increased by USD 76.5 million from June 30, an annualized rate of 4.73 percent, led by commercial and residential real estate lending. Net interest margin was 3.89 percent, compared with 3.69 percent in the year-earlier quarter. Excluding purchase-accounting loan accretion, the fully tax-equivalent margin was 3.75 percent.
Deposit strategy shapes the outlook
Total deposits declined by USD 32.6 million during the quarter after CNB exited approximately USD 76.1 million of higher-cost corporate deposits. Excluding that strategic action, deposits increased by approximately USD 43.5 million. Noninterest-bearing deposits rose by USD 13.5 million as treasury-management relationships expanded.
Credit costs moved higher after a USD 1.6 million charge-off on one commercial loan relationship. Nonperforming assets stood at 0.68 percent of total assets at September 30, compared with 0.49 percent a year earlier. Management said the bank entered the fourth quarter with loan-production and deposit-growth opportunities.
Business model and competitive position
CNB Financial is a bank holding company headquartered in Clearfield, Pennsylvania, operating mainly through CNB Bank. The full-service bank serves individual, business, governmental and institutional customers with deposits, commercial and consumer lending, private banking, and trust and wealth-management services across Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York and Virginia.
With approximately USD 8.4 billion in consolidated assets and 79 offices, CNB occupies a smaller regional position than larger industry peers such as M&T Bank, Truist Financial and Fifth Third Bancorp.
