CJ CGV lifts profit to KRW 20.2 billion: what it means for CJ CGV stock
Published on 10/05/2026 at 20:31 | Editorial responsibility: Rafael Müller, Editor-in-Chief AD HOC NEWSCJ CGV lifts first-half operating profit to KRW 20.2 billion, according to FNTimes on September 9, 2026, putting the companys recovery against a still-heavy financing burden in focus for CJ CGV stock.
Profit recovery gains traction
CJ CGV reported first-half 2026 consolidated revenue of KRW 1.1673 trillion, up 14.00 percent from the prior-year period, while operating profit rose 310.50 percent to KRW 20.2 billion, FNTimes reported. Net loss narrowed to KRW 2.8 billion, a KRW 73.5 billion improvement from the first half of 2025.
The improvement came from more than ticket sales. CJ4DPLEX generated first-half revenue of KRW 75.8 billion and operating profit of KRW 7.5 billion, while CJ OliveNetworks produced KRW 466.3 billion of revenue and KRW 31.3 billion of operating profit, according to the same September 9 report from FNTimes.
Debt remains the key counterweight
The balance-sheet picture is less comfortable. CJ CGVs consolidated debt ratio fell from 622.00 percent in the first half of 2025 to 412.30 percent at the end of the first half of 2026, but FNTimes reported that the ratio would reach 710.00 percent when hybrid securities were treated as debt.
That distinction matters because CJ CGV issued KRW 600.0 billion of perpetual securities during the first half of 2026. The report said cash interest and related payments reached KRW 102.3 billion during the period, exceeding operating cash flow of KRW 47.5 billion.
Stock value and next reporting date
StockAnalysis lists CJ CGV as a Korea Stock Exchange company under ticker 079160 and confirms the ISIN, as shown on its company overview updated October 4, 2026. The shares had a 52-week range of KRW 4,150.00 to KRW 6,660.00, while market capitalization stood at KRW 825.4 billion as of October 5, 2026.
Investing.com lists November 18, 2026 as CJ CGVs next earnings date and shows a 12-month average analyst target of KRW 6,400.00, compared with the latest quoted KRW 4,985.00 level on its Seoul listing. The operating recovery therefore meets a measurable test: sustaining profit growth while reducing the cash cost of the capital structure.
Recovery meets financing pressure
CJ CGV combines a 14.00 percent first-half revenue increase with a 310.50 percent rise in operating profit, but the KRW 102.3 billion first-half interest burden keeps cash generation central to the investment case. The November 18, 2026 reporting date offers the next scheduled checkpoint for that balance.
