CESC allots INR 190 crore debt: CESC stock sits 35.63 percent below its high
Published on 10/02/2026 at 02:31 | Editorial responsibility: Rafael Müller, Editor-in-Chief AD HOC NEWSCESC Limited allotted INR 190 crore, or INR 1.90 billion, of secured debt on September 24, 2026, and CESC stock stood 35.63 percent below its 52-week high in the latest primary-market quote. ScanX News reported that the company allotted 19,000 secured, unlisted, redeemable and rated non-convertible debentures to Kotak Mahindra Bank.
Debt funds renewable expansion
The five-year securities mature on September 24, 2031, with interest linked to the one-month MIBOR OIS plus a 2.20 percent spread, according to ScanX News. Principal repayment is scheduled in 16 equal quarterly installments from December 31, 2027, through September 24, 2031.
The financing arrives as CESC shifts capital toward renewable generation. Its Purvah Green Power subsidiary agreed in August 2026 to acquire operating renewable assets with 1,411 MWp of capacity for an enterprise value of INR 4.86 billion, a transaction expected to complete before October 31, 2026.
Q1 revenue rises while EBITDA falls
In Q1 FY27, consolidated revenue increased 5.00 percent year over year to INR 5.56 billion from INR 5.29 billion, while profit after tax rose 3.00 percent to INR 419 crore from INR 407 crore, Arthneeti reported on September 25, 2026.
The same Q1 FY27 review showed consolidated EBITDA falling 3.00 percent year over year to INR 1,149 crore from INR 1,180 crore. That split matters: revenue and net profit expanded, but operating earnings contracted, leaving renewable execution and financing costs as the key variables for the next phase.
Stock remains below its yearly high
The latest primary-market quote for CESC on October 1, 2026 was INR 131.50, down 1.72 percent from INR 133.80, with the 52-week range at INR 119.00 to INR 204.40. The market capitalization was INR 174.3 billion on the same date.
The gap between INR 131.50 and the INR 204.40 high is 35.63 percent, while the quote remains 10.50 percent above the INR 119.00 low. For investors, the operating picture combines 5.00 percent Q1 revenue growth with a 3.00 percent EBITDA decline and a new INR 1.90 billion debt instrument.
