Canadian Solar signs 100 MW deal as target for Canadian Solar stock falls to USD 14.02
Published on 10/07/2026 at 03:47 | Editorial responsibility: Rafael Müller, Editor-in-Chief AD HOC NEWSCanadian Solar signed a 100 MW/200 MWh battery storage agreement as the average target for Canadian Solar stock fell from USD 14.98 to USD 14.02. The company announced the OX2 project on October 6, 2026, while TradingView reported the target reduction.
Battery project adds contracted work
According to Canadian Solar on October 6, 2026, its e-STORAGE unit will supply and commission the system for OX2's Muswellbrook Solar Farm and Battery in New South Wales, Australia. Shipments are scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2027, with commercial operation targeted for the third quarter of 2028.
The agreement includes a 20-year long-term service arrangement covering hardware, software and system performance. Canadian Solar will produce the battery cells and SolBank system in-house, keeping integration, commissioning and energy management within the group.
Storage backlog reaches USD 3.50 billion
The project adds to a contracted storage business that had a USD 3.50 billion backlog as of June 30, 2026. Canadian Solar's investor-relations profile also says e-STORAGE had shipped more than 23 GWh of storage solutions by that date and that the company had delivered 180 GW of solar photovoltaic modules over its operating history.
Second-quarter results show the financial trade-off behind that expansion. The company recognized USD 1.20 billion of revenue and a USD 77.00 million net loss attributable to shareholders, or USD 1.40 per share, in the second quarter of 2026, according to the Yahoo Finance transcript. Gross margin was 13.90 percent, while operating cash flow used was USD 181.00 million in the quarter.
The same call put the storage backlog at USD 3.50 billion and described 34 GWh of projects covered by long-term service agreements. That makes the OX2 award strategically relevant beyond its 100 MW headline capacity: recurring service revenue and system integration are part of the commercial package.
