- Second-quarter net revenue declined 7.2 percent year over year, while gross margin expanded to 24.7 percent.
- High-growth volumes rose 14.1 percent, but consolidated volume fell 4.6 percent and international volume declined 8.3 percent.
- Net debt stood at 4.7 times trailing EBITDA, keeping leverage a central issue for investors.
Camil Alimentos reported a sharp year-over-year decline in second-quarter profit on October 8, as weaker revenue and lower operating earnings outweighed an improvement in gross margin. The figures cover the three months ended August 31, 2026, according to the Camil Alimentos earnings release.
Revenue and earnings weaken
Net revenue fell 7.2 percent year over year to 2.7648 billion Brazilian reais. EBITDA declined 10.1 percent to 225.3 million reais, leaving the EBITDA margin at 8.2 percent. Net income dropped to 41.3 million reais from 78.7 million reais a year earlier, while net margin narrowed to 1.5 percent.
The quarter also showed signs of operational resilience. Gross profit increased 1.2 percent to 681.9 million reais, and gross margin widened by 2.1 percentage points to 24.7 percent. High-growth volumes, including coffee, canned fish, pasta and cookies, rose 14.1 percent year over year, partly offsetting lower volumes in high-turnover and international activities.
Volume mix remains decisive
Consolidated volume fell 4.6 percent to 604.7 thousand tons. Brazil declined 2.5 percent, while international volume decreased 8.3 percent. Camil attributed the domestic comparison in part to the normalization of sugar volumes against a prior-year base that included one-off exports. The company also said lower rice prices weighed on the international segment.
Leverage remains a key investor consideration. Net debt reached 4.1 billion reais, while net debt to trailing EBITDA held at 4.7 times, unchanged from the first quarter and above the year-earlier level. The release also reported a positive 10.5 million reais non-recurring effect from the sale of a property.
