Published on 09/29/2026 at 20:43 | Editorial responsibility: Rafael Müller, Editor-in-Chief AD HOC NEWSBNI stock is backed by bank-only net income of IDR 14.32 trillion through August 2026, a 6.89 percent year-over-year increase, according to Kontan on September 15, 2026. The result came as lending and deposits expanded rapidly, while funding costs remained a central pressure point.
Credit growth drives August earnings
BNI's net interest income rose 14.33 percent year over year to IDR 28.87 trillion through August 2026. Loans reached IDR 977.17 trillion, up 27.14 percent, while total assets increased 23.61 percent to IDR 1,434.11 trillion, the same Kontan report said.
Deposits grew 29.40 percent to IDR 1,124.71 trillion, but time deposits jumped 63.75 percent to IDR 389.94 trillion. That mix matters because the bank's low-cost funds, known as CASA, grew 16.44 percent to IDR 734.76 trillion, a slower pace than total deposits.
Analysts see upside but watch margins
Maybank Sekuritas analyst Jeffrosenberg Chenlim retained a buy recommendation and an IDR 4,800 target in research dated September 21, 2026, as Kontan reported. The research also raised its 2026 credit-growth forecast to 9 percent from 8 percent.
Margin pressure remains the key counterweight. According to Kontan on September 3, 2026, BNI cut its 2026 net interest margin guidance from 3.5 percent-3.8 percent to 3.3 percent-3.5 percent as funding costs rose.
