BH Bank reported a 3.9 percent year-on-year increase in net banking income to TND 511 million for the nine months ended September 2026, according to African Manager. The report was published on October 21, 2026. The increase came as banking operating expenses fell faster than banking operating income.

Lower funding costs support income

Banking operating income declined 2 percent to TND 1.037 billion from TND 1.059 billion a year earlier. Interest income fell 7.3 percent to TND 659 million, while income from the securities portfolio rose 11.5 percent to TND 262 million. Commission income increased 3.2 percent to TND 116 million.

Banking operating expenses dropped 7.1 percent to TND 526 million, helped by a 7.4 percent decrease in interest expenses to TND 514 million. Net banking income for the third quarter alone fell to TND 165 million from TND 174 million in the same period of 2025, showing that the nine-month improvement did not extend to the latest quarter.

Deposits rise as lending slips

Customer deposits increased 9.9 percent year on year to TND 10.457 billion at the end of September. Savings deposits rose 10 percent to TND 4.417 billion, while demand deposits increased 7.8 percent to TND 2.989 billion.

Net outstanding loans declined 0.7 percent to TND 10.297 billion from TND 10.370 billion a year earlier. Borrowings and special resources fell 9.8 percent to TND 1.359 billion. The combination of stronger deposits, slightly lower lending and reduced external funding points to a more defensive balance-sheet structure.

Operating costs remain a pressure point

Operating expenses rose 11.5 percent during the first nine months. Personnel costs climbed 12.9 percent to TND 166 million, while general operating expenses increased 8.2 percent to TND 67 million. For investors, the key issue is whether the improvement from lower funding costs can continue to offset rising structural expenses.
