BGF Retail is extending CU's partnership with girl group RESCENE into boxed meals, broadening a collaboration that has already generated strong demand for bakery products. ChosunBiz reported on November 1 that CU, operated by BGF Retail, will sell two products inspired by RESCENE member Woni's favorite home-style dishes.

Collaboration moves into ready meals

The products are a kimchi spicy pork meal and a soy-braised chicken meal. CU is taking pre-orders for the first product through its Pocket CU commerce app from November 2 to 4, with nationwide store sales scheduled to begin on November 10. Pre-orders for the second meal run from November 9 to 11, followed by a nationwide launch on November 17.

The move follows the release of five BAKE405 RESCENE bakery products in October. According to ChosunBiz, the bakery series surpassed cumulative sales of 2 million units in one month, giving CU a basis for expanding the partnership into a broader ready-meal category.

Fan demand becomes a retail lever

BGF Retail's initiative links entertainment fandom with everyday convenience-store consumption. The product design uses dishes associated with Woni's family life rather than relying only on the artist's name, while the boxed-meal format places the collaboration in a category with wider meal-use potential.

BGF Retail operates CU, a South Korean convenience-store franchise network. Its business includes franchise operations, fresh-food supply through a central kitchen, nationwide logistics, the Pocket CU online-to-offline shopping service and overseas master-franchise partnerships.
