In a September 14, 2026 announcement, Business Wire reported that Western Digital Corporation will redeem all USD 109,505,000 of its outstanding 3.00 percent convertible senior notes due 2028. The redemption is scheduled for November 16, 2026, at 100 percent of principal plus accrued and unpaid interest to, but excluding, that date.
Noteholders may convert the securities through 5:00 p.m. New York City time on November 12, 2026. The conversion rate is 26.5231 Western Digital common shares per USD 1,000 principal amount, and the company said it expects substantially all of the notes to be converted before redemption.
IDC study highlights AI-related storage demand
In a September 9, 2026 release, Western Digital said an IDC white paper sponsored by the company found that 94.70 percent of surveyed organizations stored more data because of AI and generative AI adoption during the previous 12 months. The release also said 61.00 percent experienced data growth of at least 25.00 percent over the same period.
The study covered 763 IT and business decision-makers across seven countries. Western Digital said 74.00 percent of respondents expected data volumes to grow by at least 25.00 percent over the next three years.
