Volkswagen lowers 2026 forecast
In an ad hoc notice dated September 18, Volkswagen AG said it expects 2026 Group sales revenue of around EUR 315 billion. The figure is broadly equivalent to the midpoint of its previous forecast range, compared with EUR 321.9 billion in 2025, according to the Volkswagen Group.
Volkswagen AG now expects an operating return on sales of up to 1 percent for 2026, compared with its previous forecast range of 4.0 percent to 5.5 percent. The company said special effects totaling around EUR 10 billion are expected to weigh on operating profit, while the return on sales would be about 4 percent excluding those effects, the company release said.
The notice attributed the forecast adjustment to a more difficult market environment, especially in China, and an accelerated shift in demand toward battery-electric vehicles. It also included a non-cash impairment of around EUR 6 billion on goodwill allocated to the Porsche business segment. Volkswagen said its interim financial statements for September 30, 2026, are scheduled for publication on October 29, 2026, according to the ad hoc release.
