Inaxaplin study results
In a September 22, 2026 release, Vertex Pharmaceuticals reported results from the Phase 2b AMPLIFIED study of inaxaplin in people with APOL1-mediated kidney disease, or AMKD. In the cohort of people with AMKD and modest proteinuria, treatment with a 45 mg once-daily dose on top of optimized standard of care reduced urine albumin to creatinine ratio by 42.70 percent at Week 13 compared with baseline. In the cohort of people with AMKD and type 2 diabetes, UACR declined by 17.30 percent at Week 13.
Vertex said in the same release that inaxaplin was generally safe and well tolerated in both cohorts. The company also said it had completed enrollment in the Phase 2/3 AMPLITUDE trial and remained on track to report interim-analysis results in early 2027, subject to the study reaching 48 weeks of treatment for the interim-analysis cohort. The company said positive data could support potential accelerated approval in the United States.
Crinetics acquisition completed
Vertex also announced that it completed its acquisition of Crinetics Pharmaceuticals on September 1, 2026, following regulatory clearances and Crinetics shareholder approval, according to Business Wire. The transaction added PALSONIFY and atumelnant to Vertex’s portfolio. The release said atumelnant is in Phase 3 development for congenital adrenal hyperplasia and Phase 2 development for Cushing’s syndrome.
