Innovation and recycling remain strategic focus
In a September 15, 2026 update, Umicore introduced Geert Olbrechts as chief technology officer and executive vice president of Recycling. The company said innovation efforts are focused on recycling, advanced materials and technologies supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy.
Umicore also said its Precious Metals Refining activity in Hoboken, Belgium, can process more than 200 complex material streams and recover 17 valuable metals within one system. Under its CORE 2028 strategy, the company said it is concentrating resources on areas where it can create the greatest value and build on long-standing strengths.
