In a rating action dated October 1, 2026, Fitch Ratings affirmed Swiss Reinsurance Company Ltd.'s Insurer Financial Strength rating at AA- and its long-term issuer default rating at A+. Fitch also affirmed Swiss Re Ltd.'s long-term issuer default rating at A. The outlooks are stable.
Fitch cited Swiss Re's strong position in global reinsurance, very strong capitalization and leverage, strong financial performance, and improving reserve adequacy. The agency reported that the group's Swiss solvency test ratio was 264 percent on July 1, 2026, compared with 250 percent on January 1, 2026. Fitch expects earnings to remain broadly stable in 2026 and to decline modestly in 2027 because of lower property and casualty underwriting margins.
