Gruvön CLT production plan
In a September 29, 2026 press release, Stora Enso said it would start negotiations with union representatives over a plan to focus Gruvön in Sweden on sawn-goods operations and close its cross-laminated timber production unit. If implemented, the CLT production closure would be permanent and take place by the end of 2026.
The negotiations cover approximately 220 employees, and the plan could affect a maximum of 80 positions. Stora Enso said no decision on the proposed closure or employee impact would be made until the local negotiations were completed. Sawn-goods deliveries from Gruvön would continue as usual under the plan.
