Shell completes ARC Resources acquisition

Shell plc completed its previously announced acquisition of ARC Resources Ltd. on September 2, 2026, following the required shareholder, court and regulatory approvals, according to the company’s release. ARC is focused on energy production in British Columbia and Alberta, Canada.

The transaction adds approximately 370 kboe/d across liquids and gas, Shell said. Under the arrangement, ARC shareholders receive CAD 8.20 in cash and 0.40247 ordinary Shell shares for each ARC common share. Shell said the deal carries an enterprise value of approximately US$16.5 billion.

Transaction terms and timing

The acquisition’s effective date was September 2, 2026. Shell said the transaction is expected to support production compound annual growth of around 4.00 percent through 2030 compared with 2025, while noting that the statement is forward-looking and subject to relevant risks.
