In a release dated October 2, Ørsted said an incident damaged a turbine blade at the Greater Changhua 4 offshore wind farm. The company said no personnel were working on the turbine and no vessels were in the area at the time. No one was injured, and a safety exclusion zone was established.
Ørsted said safety controls were put in place in the surrounding waters and relevant authorities and stakeholders were notified. The company is working with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy to assess the situation and is monitoring the turbine with cameras. Siemens Gamesa operates the wind farm, the turbine remains under its warranty, and the manufacturer will lead the investigation, according to Ørsted.
