LNG Canada approves Phase 2 decision

LNG Canada said on September 28, 2026, that its joint venture participants, including PetroChina, had taken a final investment decision on the Phase 2 expansion in Kitimat, British Columbia. The expansion is planned to add two LNG processing units and increase capacity from 14 million tonnes per year to 28 million tonnes per year.

The project also includes an additional LNG storage tank, a condensate tank, a loading berth, and expanded utility and process systems. LNG Canada said each of its five joint venture participants will remain responsible for the offtake of its proportionate share of LNG production.
