Abogen agreement
On October 2, 2026, Abogen Biosciences announced that it had entered into a licensing and option agreement with Novartis to advance RNA-encoded therapeutics. Under the agreement, Novartis receives an exclusive worldwide license to ABO2203, an mRNA-encoded CD19xCD3 T-cell engager being developed for autoimmune diseases. The agreement also gives Novartis exclusive options to license additional programs based on Abogen’s RNA platform. Abogen Biosciences said the transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions, including required regulatory clearances.
Abogen said it will receive an upfront payment of USD 575 million and could receive up to approximately USD 7.2 billion in milestone payments if all options are exercised and agreed development, regulatory and commercial milestones are achieved. Potential royalties on future product sales are also included in the proposed terms. The company said ABO2203 is designed to use mRNA to direct the production of T-cell engagers in vivo to reset B cells.
