Abogen agreement gives Novartis ABO2203 rights
Abogen Biosciences said it entered into a licensing and option agreement with Novartis to advance RNA-encoded therapeutics. The agreement includes an exclusive worldwide license to ABO2203, an mRNA-encoded CD19xCD3 T-cell engager, and options for other programs using Abogen’s RNA platform.
Under the proposed terms, Abogen will receive an upfront payment of USD 575 million. If all options are exercised, it could receive up to approximately USD 7.2 billion in milestone payments tied to development, regulatory and commercial milestones, plus potential royalties on future product sales. The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions, including required regulatory clearances, according to Abogen.
Reuters reported that ABO2203 is being developed for autoimmune diseases by targeting B cells. The agreement also gives Novartis options to license additional therapies based on Abogen’s RNA technology.
