Talon Blue completes autonomous flight
In a company release dated October 3, Northrop Grumman said its YFQ-48A Talon Blue completed its first fully autonomous flight, including taxi, takeoff, in-flight maneuvers and landing. The company said the internally funded aircraft combines modular design and advanced manufacturing intended to support lower costs and faster production. Northrop Grumman also said the flight builds on more than 500,000 autonomous flight hours.
New Arizona space facility
Separately, Northrop Grumman announced on October 1 the opening of a 120,000-square-foot building on its Gilbert, Arizona, campus. The company said the A1 facility adds office, classified, integration and test, and mission support space for space missions serving national security, civil and commercial customers. Northrop Grumman said the investment expands workforce capacity in Arizona.
