Geely transaction announced

On September 27, 2026, NIO Inc. announced definitive agreements with subsidiaries of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group covering battery-swapping and charging businesses. Subject to regulatory clearances and other customary closing conditions, a Geely subsidiary will contribute its 100% interest in Yiyi Internet Technology and RMB 640 million in cash for a 30.0% stake in NIO Power, which operates NIO’s battery-swapping and charging businesses. NIO China would retain a controlling 63.6% interest, while the transaction values NIO Power at a post-money valuation of approximately RMB 16 billion.

Separately, NIO China agreed to subscribe for newly issued equity in Geely subsidiary Haohan Energy, with the proceeds to be used to purchase certain charging assets from NIO. Upon completion, NIO China would hold 10.0% of Haohan Energy. The companies also outlined preliminary plans to adopt battery-swapping technology and related services across consumer and commercial mobility businesses.

Second-quarter financial context

In results released September 1, 2026, NIO reported second-quarter 2026 revenue of RMB 32,136.9 million and vehicle deliveries of 107,658 units. Gross margin was 18.4%, while the company recorded a GAAP net loss of RMB 528.0 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2026.
