Merck expands oncology pipeline
On September 28, Merck & Co. and SciBrunch Therapeutics announced an exclusive global license agreement for SPR2015, an investigational preclinical oral KRAS G12D inhibitor, according to a Merck release.
The agreement gives Merck exclusive worldwide rights to develop, manufacture and commercialize SPR2015. SciBrunch will receive a $400 million upfront payment, while the transaction has a total potential aggregate value of $2.13 billion and has closed. Merck said it will record a $400 million pretax charge, or approximately $0.13 per share, in third-quarter 2026 GAAP and non-GAAP results, the company said.
Recent kidney-cancer approval
On September 25, Merck & Co. and Eisai announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved WELIREG plus LENVIMA for certain adults with advanced clear-cell renal cell carcinoma following treatment with a PD-1 or PD-L1 inhibitor, according to a Merck release. The company said interim Phase 3 LITESPARK-011 results showed a 26 percent reduction in the risk of disease progression or death versus cabozantinib.
