Lloyds Banking Group is expanding its artificial-intelligence program with a governed platform for developing AI agents and a new financial assistant available to millions of customers through its mobile banking app, according to QA Financial in a report published October 6, 2026.
Controlled AI deployment
The platform, called Envoy, is intended to give teams a common environment for developing and expanding AI agents across the group. Lloyds Banking Group’s group chief operating officer, Ron van Kemenade, described it as a secure environment for building and scaling agents with governance, oversight and controls, QA Financial reported.
The same report said Lloyds had rolled out an AI financial assistant through its mobile banking app. The assistant was tested and approved by colleagues before launch, while the group’s AI Academy is intended to support 67,000 employees and Lloyds plans to recruit for more than 1,000 agentic AI-focused positions during 2026, the report said.
Investment in future skills
In a separate company release published September 16, 2026, Lloyds Banking Group said it ranked 10th in The Times Top 100 Graduate Employers 2026 and sixth in the Government and Higherin Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers 2026. The company also said it had announced a £100 million investment in future skills, including reskilling 20,000 colleagues and supporting a further 600,000 young people by 2030.
