Lloyds reports stablecoin settlement pilot
Lloyds Banking Group said on September 30 that it and Visa had completed a seven-day live pilot using stablecoins to settle US$750,000 of payment obligations. The bank said funds reached Visa in under an hour, including over the weekend. The pilot used USDC purchased through Archax, a UK-regulated digital asset exchange, and tested settlement across private and public blockchain environments, according to the Lloyds Banking Group release.
Business confidence falls in September
In a separate September 30 release, Lloyds said its Business Barometer showed overall business confidence falling 12 points to 41 percent, the lowest level since April 2025. Economic optimism declined 18 points to 31 percent, while 57 percent of surveyed firms expected output to increase over the year ahead. Confidence remained above the survey’s long-term average of 30 percent, the company said.
