Lunar infrastructure partnership
Leonardo, ispace-EUROPE, ispace and Telespazio signed a memorandum of understanding to explore collaboration on lunar communications, positioning, navigation and timing infrastructure, services and transportation. The agreement also covers potential use of Leonardo’s space capabilities in robotics and artificial intelligence. Telespazio is a joint venture owned 67 percent by Leonardo and 33 percent by Thales. Computing for Earth observation
On October 5, 2026, Unibap Space Solutions said it was collaborating with Leonardo through Leonardo’s Space Division on an advanced version of Unibap’s iX20 high-performance computing platform. The adapted system is intended for defense and emergency applications in space and will support Leonardo’s Earth observation constellation by processing and analyzing data on board satellites. Unibap Space Solutions provided the announcement.
